  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file should be in Microsoft Word, Latex, or other related document file format.
  • Where available, URLs or DOI for the all references have been provided.
  • All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end and are properly labelled.
  • All cited work are referenced and all referenced are cited see Author Guidelines.
  • I have read the author guidelines and APC policy: AJMSS charges US$50 per accepted manuscript for institutional authors only. Authors who are not institutional authors are not charged an APC. Any applicable payment is arranged after acceptance.

Overview and submission

The Applied Journal of Economics, Management and Social Sciences (AJMSS) publishes theoretical and empirical research in economics, business, management and social sciences through double-blind peer review. Please review the journal’s aims and scope before submitting.

Register or log in to submit through the journal dashboard and follow your manuscript’s progress. If you need submission assistance, email ajmss@nokspublishing.com. Manuscripts may also be provided by email as an attachment or an accessible author-supplied Google Drive or Google Docs link. Please respond promptly to editorial queries.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

AJMSS charges an APC of US$50 per accepted manuscript only for institutional authors. This contribution supports the editorial effort required to help each accepted article reach its best possible standard, including copyediting, typesetting and publication preparation. Authors who are not institutional authors are not charged an APC.

Any applicable payment is arranged by the editorial office after acceptance. Payment does not determine editorial acceptance. Authors lacking adequate resources may request a waiver or discount; original research is welcome regardless of financial capacity.

Manuscript requirements

  • Originality: Submit original work that is not under consideration elsewhere. Preprints are permitted; disclose the preprint with your submission.
  • Format: Submit an editable Microsoft Word or compatible document, or LaTeX with its editable source files. Include readable, numbered tables and figures with captions in the manuscript; supply original figure files where available.
  • Length: The normal guide is 4,000–7,000 words, including references, tables, figures and appendices. This is a guide rather than an automatic exclusion rule; the editors may allow a different length for a significant contribution.
  • Title and authors: Use a concise title. Provide each contributing author’s name, current affiliation and email, in the agreed author order. An institutional email is preferred where available.
  • Abstract and keywords: Describe the purpose, methodology, main findings, originality and contribution. The normal guide is no more than 200 words including keywords, with at least six appropriate keywords. Editors may waive this length guide where the contribution justifies it.
  • References: Use APA 7th edition consistently for in-text citations and the reference list. Every cited source must appear in the reference list, and every listed source must be cited. Include a DOI where available. The APA 7th edition requirement takes precedence over older examples.
  • Funding and acknowledgements: Declare all funding and explain the funder’s role. Optional biographies and acknowledgements may be supplied separately; keep each author biography within 100 words.

Research ethics and permissions

Authors are accountable for the accuracy and integrity of their work and should follow the publication ethics guidance of COPE. Include only authors who made a substantial contribution; acknowledge other assistance. Declare conflicts of interest. Where research involves human participants, report the appropriate ethics approval and informed consent, and provide relevant participant information documentation. Obtain necessary permission for third-party material and acknowledge its source. Plagiarism and other research-integrity concerns are assessed through the journal’s editorial procedures.

Initial assessment and peer review

The journal supports research in Africa and welcomes relevant research from authors worldwide. Editors begin with a constructive initial assessment of scope, contribution, methods, results, implications, ethics, references and presentation. This assessment is distinct from external double-blind peer review. Before peer review, requests for author correction focus on substantive matters that cannot be resolved through editorial editing, such as methodology, data, results, interpretation, ethics or essential evidence. Routine language and presentation work is handled at the later editing stage, after acceptance has been decided and communicated. Initial assessment or a request for clarification does not constitute acceptance.

The editorial office aims to provide initial feedback within five working days. You can check progress in your dashboard or contact ajmss@nokspublishing.com.
